Ryan Day’s Son, A 2027 Quarterback, Lands Cool Scholarship Offer

RJ Day, the son of Ohio State head coach Ryan Day, received a college offer.

The class of 2027 quarterback revealed Thursday that Marshall offered him a scholarship.

Excited to say that i have received an offer to the Marshall University‼️#goherd @CoachHuff @HerdFB @On3Recruits @247Sports @FootballSFD @AllenTrieu pic.twitter.com/yENwFbWiCE

Day received his first Division I offer from Boston College right as he began his first year at Columbus’ St. Francis DeSales High School. His dad was an Eagles offensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014, and head coach Jeff Hafley was a defensive coordinator for Day’s Buckeyes in 2019.

The younger Day threw a 31-yard game-winning touchdown pass in his high school debut. The Columbus Dispatch made him a special mention on its All-Central District team.

He’ll look to follow his father as a Division I player. Ryan Day played quarterback for New Hampshire under offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. After graduating, he joined the program as a tight ends coach in 2022.

Day has led the Buckeyes to three consecutive 11-win seasons, but a late loss to Michigan marred each campaign. He’s leading a strong recruiting crop and strong transfer haul into the 2024 season.

Meanwhile, his son still has three years of high school to complete before worrying about college. Perhaps that gives RJ Day more time to earn Ohio State’s attention by 2027.
