Ohio State head coach Ryan Day’s son RJ is already making a name for himself on the gridiron.
RJ, a quarterback recruit in the class of 2027, has picked up two early offers, one from Marshall and one from Boston College. A freshman at St. Francis De Sales in Columbus, Ohio, the younger Day is also drawing interesting from a number of other major programs.
Two of them are Clemson and South Carolina. Day had the chance to visit both program recently.
“I get an opportunity to be around some great people in the sport. So more importantly just try to expose him to different people and connections and see it from a different lens,” Ryan Day said recently on Morning Juice, via On3. “He gets to see what happens at Ohio State, but to go down and visit a Clemson, visit South Carolina. Dabo and Shane both do an unbelievable job down there. So just try to get him around great people.”
Football is the family business, one that Day knows all about the pressures that come with it.
His son being recruited gives Day a different perspective on the game, and it sounds like the young quarterback has taken to the sport.
“Growing up I wasn’t sure if he’d like football or not. There was a point where I didn’t think he had any chance of being an athlete,” Ryan Day said. “We actually have some videos of it. We laugh with the girls about it. But he’s embraced it and he just loves it. It’s his life.”
It will certainly be interesting to follow RJ’s career as it unfolds in high school over the next couple of years.
