A scary scene unfolded during Saturday’s Big Ten men’s basketball game between Ohio State and Indiana.
The start of the second half was delayed at Assembly Hall after a piece of the jumbotron fell onto the court, landing close to Buckeyes freshman Brice Sensabaugh.
Per Griffin Strom of Eleven Warriors, Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann said he had some reservations about continuing the game.
“It would have significantly injured Brice had it connected,” Holtmann said. “Thank God it didn’t. Yeah, I was concerned about resuming play.”
He called safety a “significant concern” even though the stadium crew “felt like it was fine.”
The game eventually resumed without any other issues, with the Hoosiers earning an 86-70 victory behind 24 points from Jalen Hood-Schifino. Sensabaugh led Ohio State with 23 points and six rebounds.
Holtmann’s team has lost seven of its last eight games, falling to 11-10 with a 3-7 record in Big Ten action. The Buckeyes will try to recover when hosting Wisconsin this Thursday night.
