The Buckeyes dropped an offer to a 2022 prospect on the hardwood and immediately were included as a finalist

Ohio State was busy on the recruiting trail this weekend as both Ryan Day and Chris Holtmann sent out offers to prospects in hopes of bringing them to Columbus. Land-Grant Holy Land takes a look at the two latest players that are being pursued by the Buckeyes; one on the gridiron and one on the hardwood.

Sensabaugh offered, reveals top schools

When it comes to the hardwood, Ohio State definitely looks like a team that is hoping to add one more final piece to its 2022 recruiting class. The Buckeyes currently sit atop the team rankings with a quartet of pledges that includes Roddy Gayle Jr., Bowen Hardman, Felix Okpara, and Bruce Thornton.

A name that Chris Holtmann is targeting to potentially join the four is three-star small forward Brice Sensabaugh of Lake Highland Prep (FL). The 6-foot-6, 240-pounder received an offer from Ohio State on Friday, and the Buckeyes immediately joined an offer list for Sensabaugh that included Alabama, Cincinnati, Clemson, Florida, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Miami (FL), Oklahoma, South Carolina, and more.

Just hours after receiving an offer from Ohio State, Sensabaugh would go on to trim that list down to four schools that he will focus on going forward. The Buckeyes were included in the group as well as the Crimson Tide, Gators, and Yellow Jackets. Despite the offer being fresh for Sensabaugh, he seems to be intrigued enough with the idea of playing in Columbus, and now Ohio State is well aware of the competition they have to outlast in order to land the Sunshine State product.

2024 RB gets Buckeye offer

On to the gridiron, head coach Ryan Day and the football Buckeyes were active on Saturday when they delivered an offer to 2024 running back Stacy Gage of IMG Academy (FL). The Tampa native becomes the seventh prospect in the class to pick up an early offer from the Buckeyes, and the lone running back of the bunch.

Aside from Ohio State, Gage was also on the receiving end of an offer from LSU on Saturday. The two latest programs to jump into the mix for 247Sports’ No. 2-ranked running back in the way-too-early rankings join a host of others on Gage’s offer sheet. Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Oregon, Penn State, USC, and more have already sent scholarship opportunities to the 5-foot-11, 200-pounder.

Quick Hits

  • According to Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors, four-star offensive tackle Luke Montgomery of Findlay (OH) is planning to take a game-visit to Ohio State on Sept. 11 when the Buckeyes take on Oregon in their home opener. Hope also revealed that the No. 59 overall player in the 2023 class could visit for the Penn State game on Oct. 30 as well.
  • 247Sports’ Bill Kurelic casted a Crystal Ball prediction on Saturday in favor of Ohio State to land four-star linebacker Troy Bowles of Jesuit (FL). The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder is currently graded as the fourth-best linebacker in the 2023 class. Bowles participated in a Buckeyes camp early this summer, and his performance was impressive enough to earn an offer from the Scarlet and Gray.
  • Five-star wide receiver Brandon Inniss of American Heritage (FL), an Ohio State target, announced his commitment to Oklahoma on Sunday. With the No. 1-ranked pass catcher in the 2023 headed elsewhere, the Buckeyes top remaining targets at the position include Jalen Hale, Zachariah Branch, Johntay Cook II, Carnell Tate, and more.
