Week 0 of the 2021 college football season is exactly two weeks away and anticipation is mounting for the start of a new year. Teams are busy toiling away in summer practice and fans are growing more excited with every passing day.
With the start of a new season just around the corner, media members are busy at work trying to make their preseason predictions. Broadcaster Tim Brando is among that group and he finally dropped his preseason top 10 on Friday.
The FOX Sports commentator put four SEC teams in the group, echoing what many have said about the conference’s depth at the top this year. The Big 12 was the only other league to get multiple teams in Brando’s top 10.
Here’s how Brando’s preseason rankings turned out:
Brando also named the programs that narrowly missed out on cracking his preseason top-10. In no particular order, the FOX Sports commentator listed Coastal Carolina, Florida, Liberty, Louisiana, North Carolina, Iowa, Oregon and Wisconsin as teams just on the outside, looking in.

Brando’s predictions are bold and they begin that way immediately with Oklahoma in the top spot. Many expect the Sooners to be playoff contenders, but few have had them above defending national champion Alabama or even Ohio State and Clemson.
Cincinnati coming in at No. 4 is the next surprise on Brando’s list. The Bearcats could very well run the table in 2021, but will still be hard-pressed to crack the top 5 unless some of the elite programs drop games early on. Luke Fickell’s program will have the chance to pick up two quality wins over Notre Dame and Indiana this season, which should boost the school’s playoff hopes.
Now that Brando’s preseason rankings are in, all that’s left to do is start the 2021 college football season. Week 0 kicks off in two weeks time at 1:00 p.m. ET on Aug. 28.
