Urban Meyer’s coaching career is over for good — at least according to PGA Tour star Billy Horschel.
The reigning Memorial Tournament champion has a relationship with Meyer through their connections with the University of Florida, and ran into the former Gators coach in Chicago last month.
Horschel said Meyer told him that he’s done with the coaching life. The job “took too much out of him” and he’s not keen on adjusting to the new NIL landscape in college football, per The Columbus Dispatch.
Horschel also said Meyer is enjoying his analyst job with Fox Sports and doesn’t want to give up free time with his grandchildren. Meyer’s wife also doesn’t want him returning to the sideline.
“I looked at (Shelley) and she nodded (when Urban said he was done coaching),” Horschel said.
Meyer, a three-time National Champion, most recently served as head coach in a disastrous 2-11 campaign with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Coming off a top-40 finish at the Charles Schwab Challenge, Horschel will look to defend his title in this week’s Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
