This morning was a tough one for former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer as one of his cherished friends and former assistants, Tim Kight, passed away.
Taking to X a short while ago, Meyer offered his condolences to Kight’s family and described the impact that he had on him.
“I met Tim in Spring 2013. His impact on me personally, on our staff, and on our team was profound. He was a passionate competitor and loved helping people get better,” Meyer wrote.
“A great leader, teacher, mentor and friend.
“God’s Merch and Grace on the Kight Family.”
Kight had been a motivational speaker since the 1980s when he first met Meyer. His way with words had a profound impact on many, and Meyer was no exception.
Meyer was so impressed that he hired Kight to work with the team. Kight served as the leadership consultant at Ohio State for several years during Meyer’s historic tenure at the school.
The Buckeyes went 83-9, winning three Big Ten titles, four bowl games and the first-ever College Football Playoff national title game.
A number of head coaches and school administrators today credit Kight with enriching their programs through his messages for students.
Our hearts go out to Kight’s family and loved ones.
