Urban Meyer took to social media with his reaction to the tragic passing of former Ohio State superstar Dwayne Haskins on Saturday.
Alongside a photo of Haskins holding one of his grandchildren, Meyer shared this touching message:
“Heartbroken to hear of the loss of Dwayne Haskins Jr. My thoughts and prayers go out to his incredible family. One of the greatest QB’s in Ohio State history, but an even better son, teammate, and friend. God Bless!!” he wrote.

Meyer welcomed Haskins to Columbus as a four-star recruit in the 2016 class. After redshirting his freshman season, Haskins earned the backup role in a stacked quarterback room including senior starter J.T. Barrett and third-stringer Joe Burrow. Taking over as starter in 2018, he helped lead the Buckeyes to a Rose Bowl victory behind 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns through the air.
Haskins was the final starting quarterback of Meyer’s collegiate coaching career and no doubt holds a special place in his heart.
Haskins died on Saturday morning after he was struck by a car in South Florida, as first reported by ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. He was reportedly there working out with some of his Steelers teammates as he geared up for his second season with the organization.
Our thoughts go out to the Haskins family and all those close to him during this tragic time.
