Even though Cincinnati is projected to be in the College Football Playoff, it’s still never too early to think about a backup matchup in case it doesn’t get in.
On Monday morning, a Vegas projected betting line for Cincinnati against Ohio State was released and it has OSU as a massive favorite.
Talked to Vegas insider…
Ohio St would be a double-digit favorite over Cincinnati, favored by more than a TD against Notre Dame and Oklahoma St and would be a slight underdog to Alabama. FWIW.

This looks to be too much, especially considering the Buckeyes are 10-2, while the Bearcats finished the regular season at 12-0.
There also is the factor of OSU being a double-digit favorite over Oregon earlier in the season. That didn’t matter one bit as the Ducks went into Columbus and won, 35-28.
OSU was also a seven-point favorite going into the contest against Michigan, which didn’t matter either as Michigan won by 15.
Cincinnati has had an easier schedule but this team is still good enough where it shouldn’t be a double-digit underdog. The Bearcats went into South Bend in October and beat the Fighting Irish, 24-13.
Notre Dame ended up finishing 11-1, which is better than what OSU finished.
We’ll have to see if Vegas insider changes course if Cincinnati beats Houston convincingly this Saturday in the AAC title game.
Kickoff will be at 4 p.m. ET.
