Newly-minted Steelers quarterback Will Howard is just a few months removed from leading the Ohio State Buckeyes to a national championship.
But there was a time during his recruitment almost took him to South Beach and joined the Miami hurricanes. In a recent interview, Howard admitted that while he was deciding where to go after transferring from Kansas State, he got pitched on joining Miami.
What Howard found was that Miami was focused on pitching how nice it is to play in Miami and how much money they could make on NIL deals. By contrast, the focus of Ohio State’s pitch was all about playing for a national title and preparing players for the NFL.
“You want the beach and money, go to Miami. You want to play for National Championships, come to Ohio State!” Howard said.
“..their (Miami) big pull was they had a lot of money..”

Ohio State fans were very amused by the report, remarking on what a clear distinction it shows between their program and others. But for the most part, fans accused Howard of lying since Hurricanes QB Cam Ward went on to go No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft.
“Yawn. I raise you Cam Ward… literally raised his draft stock to the number 1 overall pick. That ain’t happening for him,” one user replied.
“He was Cam Wards back up plan. Kid is a (expletive) and still couldn’t even help his draft stock with “the highest paid roster in college football” and a championship. Bum (expletive) 6 round pick,” wrote another.
“Cam Ward ended up being the number 1 pick so I guess it worked out for both , he’s a sixth round pick and going to have to fight for a roster spot,” a third wrote.
“Wait, didn’t OSU spend big money to win a title because they were getting dominated by Michigan? Didn’t the guy who went to Miami raise his stock from being a 4th or 5th rounder to being the number 1 pick in the draft??? Lmao.”
“Who cares dude. Cam Ward would have also won a natty at Ohio State.”
Do you agree with Will Howard? Or is he just revising history here?
