June 30, 2025 by Lets Go Tribe

Cleveland Guardians minor league recap for Monday, June 30, 2025

Columbus Clippers 3, Iowa Cubs 9

Box Score · Clippers fall to 38-40

This one got ugly in a hurry behind the worst start of the season from Parker Messick. Messick was tattooed for seven runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and three walks in 1.2 innings.

C.J. Kayfus reached base three times, going 1-for-3 with a pair of walks. As did Christian Cairo, who went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.

The lone pitching bright spots were Franco Aleman and Nic Enright, who both pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

Akron RubberDucks 7, Harrisburg Senators 5

Box Score · RubberDucks improve to 47-27

Angel Genao continues to heat up, going 2-for-3 with a pair of walks and two stolen bases on Sunday. He’s now raised his batting average over .300 since returning from injury.

Other standouts included Jorge Burgos, who went 2-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs. Jonah Advincula walked twice, stole three bases and scored three runs while Tyresse Turner went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks.

A rehabbing Paul Sewald opened the game by allowing two runs on two hits in the first inning. Trenton Denholm then followed with 5.1 solid innings, allowing two runs on four hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Trevor Stephan closed out the seventh frame, allowing a run on two hits while Jack Leftwich and Magnus Ellerts locked things down with a scoreless eighth and ninth inning to earn a hold and save, respectively.

Lake County Captains 8, West Michigan Whitecaps 10

Box Score · Captains fall to 38-37

Eight runs wasn’t enough for Lake County on Sunday as West Michigan continued its offensive onslaught, adding 10 more runs a day after scoring 21 against the poor Captains.

The Whitecaps spoiled a career day from Wuilfredo Antunez, who went 2-for-5 with a pair of home runs, raising his season total to 12. Antunez unfortunately also had a whopping three errors in the game. Esteban Gonzalez also had a huge day at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and a stolen base.

Other offensive standouts included Ralphy Velazquez, who went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk and Christian Knapczyk, who went 2-for-5 with a double. Alfonsin Rosario singled and walked while Johnny Tincher went 1-for-3 with two walks.

Starting pitcher Cam Favors was annihilated for seven runs on 11 hits in 4.0 innings. The lone bright spot was his six strikeouts.

Lynchburg Hillcats 1, Charleston RiverDogs 3

Box Score · Hillcats fall to 46-29

Lynchburg did its best Cleveland impression on Sunday, scoring just one run on two hits. Welbyn Francisca was the lone offensive standout, going 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base.

The rotten offense spoiled a terrific start from Melkis Hernandez, who pitched 5.0 scoreless innings with five strikeouts and three walks while allowing three hits. Donovan Zsak took the loss, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits in 2.0 innings of relief.
