Another horrific performance from the offense.
Bad.
This lineup performed basically exactly like you’d expect a lineup without your franchise superstar to perform.
Sonny Gray twirled 9 almost perfect innings, striking out 11 Guardians while only surrendering 1 hit. He did all that on 89 pitches. Another maddux. The second in a month.
Ortiz was fine. With some run support, he would’ve been better.
7 innings of 4-run ball, 5 strikeouts, 6 hits, 1 walk. The 2 homers really killed him.
The one hit came from Nolan Jones in the 5th.
Erik Sabrowski was magnificent, which is really encouraging to see.
He struggled a bit with command in AAA but seemed to have no problem pounding the zone tonight. He was one foul ball away from an immaculate inning in the 9th.
Let’s talk about the offense.
This team is lost. Whether at the plate, in the field, on the bases, or while supporting their teammates — this roster has no life. No fight, no life, no energy. A far cry from the “Guardsball” teams of 2022 and 2024. Not the “Cardiac Kids”, not the “Comeback Kids”.
This team is exactly what you’d expect one who just came off an ALCS berth and were rewarded with 0 support on the offensive side of things to look like.
This roster desperately needs to believe that their front office believes in them. I don’t have to tell you what the front office needs to do to ameliorate these concerns we all have with the offense.
Don’t get embarrassed tomorrow.
