Other offensive standouts included Milan Tolentino, who had three hits, and Yordys Valdes, who went 2-for-4 with a double. Petey Halpin also walked twice and stole a base while Jhonkensy Noel went 2-for-5.

Starting pitcher Parker Messick wasn’t great, allowing three runs on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks in 3.0 innings. Ryan Webb was worse in piggyback relief, allowing four runs on four hits with four walks in 3.1 innings.

Thankfully the rest of the bullpen was spectacular as Nick Mikolajchak, Parker Mushinski and Eric Sabrowski locked down the final 2.2 innings to earn two holds and a save.

Columbus had no business losing game two, jumping out to a 6-0 lead with help from DeLauter, who blasted his second home run of the day.

Starting pitcher Austin Peterson was rolling along until he ran into trouble in the fourth inning, allowing four runs on seven hits. Will Dion didn’t fare any better, allowing three more runs in his two innings of work to take the loss.

Akron RubberDucks 7 Hartford Yard Goats 6

Box Score · RubberDucks improve to 43-22

Three home runs carried the Akron offense on Thursday and they came from some unsuspecting sources. Dayan Frias blasted off with a two-run bomb in the first inning. Conner Barstad then hamered a solo shot in the fourth inning and Guy Lipscomb gave Akron the cushion it needed with a solo blast in the ninth inning. All three players finished the day 2-for-4 at the plate.

Cooper Ingle also went 2-for-4 while Angel Genao singled and stole his first base of the season.

The game seemed well in hand thanks to a great starting pitching performance from Rodney Boone, who went 5.2 innings, giving up two runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and no walks. Davis Sharpe almost blew it in the ninth, allowing three runs on four hits as Akron held on.

Lake County Captains 6, Dayton Dragons 2

Box Score · Captains improve to 35-31

Rake County came back in a big way Thursday, blasting off for 15 hits. Maick Collado went 3-for-4. Eight of the nine starters had at least one hit, with Jonah Advincula and Juan Benjamin both going 2-for-5 and Benjamin homered.

Lynchburg Hillcats 2, Augusta GreenJackets 3 (F/10)

Box Score · Hillcats fall to 41-25

Lynchburg had this game in the bag until allowing Augusta to tie the game with two runs in the ninth inning and then Augusta walked it off in the 10th.
