Columbus couldn’t get out of first gear Thursday with its offense. Kody Huff had the only decent day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles. Christian Cairo also singled and walked to reach base safely twice while a recently-activated George Valera walked twice.
Starting pitcher Vince Velasquez gave up two runs on five hits with six strikeouts and four walks in 3.1 innings. The bullpen struggled as well, giving up an additional five runs the rest of the way.

Davis Sharpe and Matt Jachec finished off the shutout with a pair of scoreless innings apiece.
Offensively, Cooper Ingle walked twice while Angel Genao tripled and walked. Jake Fox went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base and Joe Lampe doubled.

The heart of Lake County’s batting order was terrific on Thursday. Ralphy Velazquez went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk while Jose Devers went 2-for-3 with a double, a sacrifice fly and three runs batted in.

Esteban Gonzalez tripled with a sacrifice fly while Jaison Chourio and Jacob Cozart both went 1-for-3 with a walk.
Starting pitcher Josh Hartle was terrific, tossing 5.0 shutout innings allowing just one hit with two strikeouts and one walk. Tyler Naquin closed out the victory with 2.0 innings of scoreless relief. Naquin still sports a 0.00 ERA at High-A.
Lynchburg Hillcas 2, Delmarva Shorebirds 1

Lynchburg just got just enough offense and some spectacular pitching. Starting pitcher Jacob Zibin pitched 3.0 scoreless, hitless innings, striking out four and walking three.
Cam Walty allowed a run in 3.0 innings on one hit with two strikeouts and a walk. Angel Perez and Luis Flores closed out the win with 3.0 scoreless innings of relief.
Ryan Cesarini tripled, was hit by a pitch and stole a base. Garrett Howe went 1-for-3 with a walk and two stolen bases to lead the offense.
