News and Notes for Monday, July 7th, 2025
The Guardians have lost ten in a row and face two left-handed starters and the second-best pitcher in the AL in Hunter Brown in a three-game series starting tonight.
Nicole has your recap of yesterday’s latest heart-breaker here. Nolan Jones, Kyle Manzardo, Bo Naylor and Cade Smith were the main culprits yesterday, but Jose Ramirez has sadly been mired in a terrible slump the past ten games also. Steven Kwan and Gavin Williams were the heroes yesterday.
It was announced yesterday that Kwan will be joining Ramirez at the all-star game.
Steven Kwan has been selected to the 2025 All-Star Game Roster!

Zack Meisel has a piece looking at the streak, as does Paul Hoynes. I don’t know what else there is to say. They are bad, bad, bad. The last time they were this bad, they fired a bunch of folks. I don’t know that it would solve anything. This weekend was especially frustrating because even a poor offensive performance could have swept the Tigers. Instead, the Guardians were abysmal.
Lane Thomas is on the IL with plantar fascitis and I kind of doubt he will be able to be traded at this point. The only pieces worth trading as far as returns go right now are Kwan and Emmanuel Clase, but if the team hopes to find a way to compete in 2026, they will likely need both players. But, maybe this is the beginning of a larger rebuild.
And, of course, Chase DeLauter is in a bit of a slump (still getting on base every game!) so we can’t even troll the team about him effectively. It’s just another Monday to enjoy every hour until it’s time to watch the Guardians punch us in the stomach again tonight.
