4/23 recap & 4/24 news and notes
Semi-wise fans spent Tuesday looking at the forecast and thinking a rainout might not be so bad, with Tanner Houck due to face the Guardians for a second time in the young season. Houck dominated the CLE hitters last week in a Maddux that took less than 2 hours for him to pitch.
The rain did arrive. But it was never severe enough to stop play. And that was a good thing, because it allowed us to see our promising ballclub beat Tanner Houck.
Excellent pitching by Ben Lively, and some insurance runs off of Cam Booser helped immensely, but the growth showed in the ABs vs Houck was cool. He surrendered 5 hits and 3 walks in 6+ innings of work. Meanwhile, Lively allowed 5 hits and did not walk anybody. He struck out 7!
Will Brennan led the Cleveland offense in hits, with a pair.
