According to Ken Rosenthal, right-hander Mike Clevinger has signed a deal with the Chicago White Sox.

Clevinger, 31, has most recently pitched for the San Diego Padres. In 2022, he went 7-7 with a 4.33 ERA, a 1.198 WHIP, and an 86 ERA+ in 23 starts. He struck out 91 batters in 114 1/3 innings to go along with 35 walks. Regarding averages, opponents hit .250 on balls put in play against him and hit .233 against him overall. He had a K/9 rate of 7.2 and a BB/9 rate of 2.8.
The Career of Mike Clevinger
The Los Angeles Angels drafted Mike Clevinger with the 135th overall pick of the 2011 Draft. He had struggled as a starter at The Citadel yet shined as a reliever for the Seminole State College of Florida. He got his first taste of professional baseball with the Rookie League Orem Owlz. After bouncing back and forth between levels, in 2014, he was traded to the Cleveland Indians for reliever Vinnie Pestano. He rose through the ranks, finally making his Major League debut on May 18, 2016.
His first foray into the big leagues yielded a 5.26 ERA. He returned midway through 2017 after beginning the year in the minors. In 2019, he had his most productive statistical season in Cleveland, putting up 13 wins and a 2.71 ERA. Though he missed the All-Star team, he did post career bests in WHIP (1.056) and ERA+ (174). In 2020, Mike Clevinger was part of a blockbuster trade deadline deal that saw the Padres acquire him for a substantial prospect package. Said package included Austin Hedges, Josh Naylor, and Cal Quantrill. Since his return in 2017, Mike Clevinger has consistently been on the field, though he missed time last season to recover from Tommy John surgery.
