Minor League Recap for Thuesday, June 12th, 2025
The Clippers got a good start from Doug Nikhazy who went five and a third allowing two runs on six hits and two walks with eight strikeouts, and a dominant scoreless eighth from Franco Aleman who struck out three. Aleman has a 17.51 strikeout rate per 9 and deserves a call-up soon. However, Parker Mushinski gave up three runs on three hits and two walks in an inning and two-thirds. Chase DeLauter had a single and a walk but also hit three balls over 100 mph, and now has a 119 wRC+ with only a .240 BABIP. His groundball rate is a bit high; if he can get a little more launch angle, I think they’ll promote him, but he’d likely be better than any right fielder in Cleveland right now, still.
Dylan DeLucia had an outstanding Double-A debut, going six scoreless with five strikeouts, allowing only two hits. Angel Genao went 2 for 5 with two singles as he tries to find his way with Akron.
The Captains got another home run from Alfonsin Rosario, this time a two-run shot. Jack Jasiak had a great game as a reliever going two scoreless innings and striking out four.
Luis Merejo hit two homers and Jervis Alfaro and Juan Zapata both had good outings, the former going five innings of two-run ball striking out six, and the latter went two scoreless innings striking out three. Both are having good seasons.
ACL Giants 14, ACL Guardians 6
Triston McKenzie is cooked, folks. Four runs in a single inning. Very sad. Hey, but Tyler Naquin threw a scoreless inning and struck out two. 19 year-old DH Yerlin Luis had a homer and has a 1.146 OPS. 18 year-old shortstop Gabriel Rodriguez also had a home run.
