
Travis Bazzana continues his on-base streak in first game back.
Columbus Clippers (44-47) – AAA
COL 5 – IOW 4
The Clippers beat the ICubs in extras on Friday night, starting the scoring off early and strong pitching efforts. In the top of the first Milan Tolentino drew a walk, Gabriel Arias (on a rehab assignment) reached on a fielder’s choice. Kody Huff then walked to load the bases and a Tolentino scored on a passed ball. In the top of the second, two walks and a single loaded the bases again. C.J. Kayfus was hit by pitch, scoring Christian Cairo.
Patience at the plate was the theme of the game. In the top of the fifth, C.J. Kayfus and Johnkensy Noel drew back-to-back walks. Kody Huff hit a single to left, scoring Kayfus and giving the Clippers the lead again. Top of the seventh, Dom Nuñez drew a two-out walk, advanced to 2nd on a passed ball, and then stole 3rd. Another wild pitched allowed Nuñez to score. The winning run came in the top of the tenth. With two outs Dayan Frias doubled to center scoring the ghost runner.
The bullpen held it together for Columbus to get the win. Starter Vince Velasquez went 5.0IP, giving up 2R/ER on 3H, 2BB and striking out 4. Jack Leftwich walked 3 in his inning of work, but struck out 3 and kept the side from scoring. Tim Herrin gave up 1 hit but struck out 2. Zak Kent blew the save by giving up 2R/ER on 2H and walking 1. Parker Mushinski went up to 3-3 on the year after earning the win in his scoreless inning of work. Bradley Hanner got his second save with the Clippers this season in the 10th inning. He only allowed one base runner via a walk and struck out 2.
Akron RubberDucks (51-36) – AA
AKR 1 – ALT 2
The RubberDucks lost in extras, but there’s still plenty to be happy about. Travis Bazzana made his return to the Akron lineup after a stint on the IL. In his first game back, Bazz had a two hit game, extending his on-base streak to 12 games.

The RubberDucks sole run came in the top of the fourth. Cooper Ingle hit a lead off double to right and advanced to third on a wild pitch. The Altoona Curve pitcher balked during Kahlil Watson’s at bat, scoring Ingle. Joe Lampe went 1-for-2 with a walk and a triple. Cooper Ingle went 1-for-4 with a run. Travis Bazzana went 2-for-4 on the night.
On the pitching side Dylan DeLucia had a 5.0 inning scoreless outing only giving up 3 hits and a walk, striking out 6.

Jake Miller went 2.0IP, giving up a run on 2 hits and 2 walks. Steven Pérez went scoreless and hitless for two innings, maintaining a tied game. Zane Morehouse gave up the walk off on a wild pitch that scored the ghost runner in the 10th inning for the loss.
Lake County Captains (46-42) – High A
FW 2 – LC 4
The Captains took home the W, without going to extras. In the bottom of the second, two singles (Jose Devers and Esteban González) had runners on the corners. During Nick Mitchell’s at bat, the TinCaps’ pitcher balked, scoring Devers for Lake County’s first run. Back-to-back singles from Juan Benjamin and Christian Knapczyk scored two more, giving the Caps an early lead.

In the bottom of the fourth Nick Mitchell hit a one-out single then scored on a Juan Benjamin single.

Matt Wilkinson had a no decision game, throwing 3.0 innings. Tugboat gave up 3H, 2E/ER, 2BB and struck out 4. Izaak Martinez earned his first W with the Captains, throwing 3.0 innings himself, allowing only one walk. Josh Harlow pitched a clean inning, striking out one. Jack Jasiak earned his ninth save, throwing the eighth and ninth inning. He gave up 2 hits, but struck out 2 to give the Captains a W.

Lynchburg Hillcats (50-37) – Single A
The Hillcats game was postponed and will be made up today as part of a doubleheader.
