
The Clippers and RubberDucks fall, but the Captains and Hillcats are victorious.
Columbus Clippers (25-33) – AAA

The Columbus Clippers were bested by the Toledo Mud Hens on Friday night. Parker Messick got his second loss of the season, throwing five complete innings. He gave up four earned runs on five hits and two walks, striking out seven in the process. RHP Bradley Hanner was the only relief pitcher to not allow a run, he pitched the ninth. Nick Mikolajchak allowed three earned runs on three hits and a walk in 1.1 innings of work. LHP Matt Krook allowed one earned run, a solo HR, in his 1.2 innings of work.
For the hitters, Petey Halpin went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Brayan Rocchio went 1-for-4 with a HR and two RBI. Yordes Valdes went 1-for-4 with a double and a run.

The Clippers play a night game today with LHP Ryan Webb taking the mound for a 7:05 PM EDT start at Huntington Park.
Akron RubberDucks (36-19) – AA
CHE 2 – AKR 0
The RubberDucks offense were shutout by the Chesapeake Baysox. Starter RHP Trenton Denholm went six full innings allowing two runs on two hits and a walk. He struck out three. Erik Sabrowski made his first rehab start of the year! He pitched a scoreless and hitless seventh, walking one and striking out two.

RHP Tyler Thornton and RHP Magnus Ellerts both also threw scoreless, hitless innings. Thornton struck out one and Ellerts walked one but struck out three to cap the ninth inning.
Kahlil Watson and Alex Mooney were the only Akron players to record hits. Joe Lampe got on base with a walk and Angel Genao reached on a fielding error. The handful of baserunners were all stranded and could not tack on a run.
The RubberDucks are playing tonight at 7:05 PM EDT at Canal Park. LHP Rodney Boone will get the start for the RubberDucks.
Lake County Captains (27-28) – High A
LC 3 – WM 0
The Captains, thankfully, broke up the losing streak for Cleveland affiliates with a shutout victory over the West Michigan Whitecaps. RHP Caden Favors earned his second win of the season. He pitched five complete innings, allowing only six hits and struck out seven. LHP Adam Tulloch got his second save of the season, throwing the remaining four innings and maintaining the shut out. Tulloch allowed two hits and a walk while striking out five.
12 strikeouts, 0 runs allowed.

The Captains offense looked a bit more lively, recording four hits and seven walks as a team. Jose Devers went 1-for-4 with a run. Jonah Advincula went an impressive 0-for-1 with one run and three walks, a great sign of patience at the plate. Maick Collado scored one of the three runs for the Captains, going 1-for-3 with a run, RBI, and a walk. Jaison Chourio made his return from the IL and hit a double that resulted in a run after a committed throwing error.

Lynchburg Hillcats (33-22) – Low A
LYN 8 – SAL 5
The Hillcats gave LHP Melkis Hernandez his fifth win of the season. Hit pitched six complete innings, allowing four earned runs on four hits and a walk. He struck out six. RHP Logan McGuire pitched the remaining three innings, earning his fourth save. McGuire allowed one earned run on three hits and struck out three.
The offense kept the pitching alive, scoring eight runs on eleven hits and six walks. Jeffery Mercedes went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a triple, two runs, and a walk. Robert Lopez went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI and one run. Yaikel Mijares went 2-for-4 with two RBI, a walk, and a run. Christopher Espinola went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Jose Pirela notched a double, his eleventh, and went 1-for-3 with two runs and a walk.
The Hillcats will go again with a 6:35 PM EDT start time tonight. RHP Sean Matson will get the start for Lynchburg.
