morning N&N for October 9

We don’t have a ton of information on this, so I’ll carefully directly quote what we do know.

Mandy Bell: “MLB will have the Guardians’ TV rights for 2025. Games will be able to be watched on television (channel info will be known closer to Opening Day) and MLB.tv. This agreement will also remove local blackouts.”

Bell also passed along this statement from the Guardians: “We’re excited to work with Major League Baseball to produce and distribute games locally. This is great for our fans, as beginning in 2025, our games will now be more widely available. This will include streaming for the first time ever in our home television territory, essentially ending blackouts for our fans locally.”

The Twins and Brewers will also be broadcast in this way.

Mets 7, Phillies 2

The Phillies and Mets put on a defensive clinic. The Mets also put on an offensive clinic. Philadelphia’s defense, along with some timely Aaron Nola K’s kept the Mets to 2 runs through 5. Then they exploded with 2 more each in the 6th and 7th, along with 1 in the 9th.

Sean Manaea pitched an amazing ballgame, allowing 1 run over 7. The Mets’ struggling Phil Maton gave up the other PHI run.

Padres 6 , Dodgers 5

The Padres and Dodgers sure can hit. Spending money works wonders in that area. A first inning Mookie Betts home run looked like he’d been robbed again. But after a suspenseful wait, it ended up that the ball ticked off Profar’s glove. That 1-0 lead did not last long.

The Padres scored 6 in the second. The Dodgers played Poor defense, and Fernando Tatis’ hot bat made them pay again. He has a 1.969 OPS in this series.

The 6-1 lead mostly vanished just as quickly. TeOscar Hernandez hit a grand slam in the third, and this looked like a 19-18 game. But nobody scored after that, and it ended 6-5 Padres. They lead the series 2 games to 1.
