This was the Parker Messick show. The 2022 second round pick had his best start of the season and one of the best starts of his young career on Sunday, allowing just one hit in 5.0 shutout innings while striking out eight and walking one. He currently sports a 3.22 ERA in his first taste of Triple-A.

Nick Enright danced around three walks to throw a scoreless inning, but Nick Mikolajchak couldn’t lock things down, allowing three runs on four hits (two of them home runs) to blow the save and take the loss.
Offensively, Petey Halpin led the way, missing the cycle by a home run by going 3-for-5 with a double, triple and a stolen base.

Kody Huff also reached base safely three times, walking twice and getting hit by a pitch.

Akron players reached base 24 times en route to scoring 16 runs on Sunday. Leading the way was Guy Lipscomb, who went 3-for-5 with two doubles and five runs batted in. He even had an outfield assist for good measure.

Joe Lampe also had a big day at the dish, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Travis Bazzana, Jorge Burgos and Alex Mooney also reached base safely three times. Bazzana went 1-for-4 with two walks while Burgos and Mooney both went 2-for-4 with a walk (Burgos had a double). Jake Fox went 1-for-3 with a walk and three runs batted in.
Dayan Frias added a pair of walks while Cooper Ingle doubled and walked and Kahlil Watson singled and walked.
Starting pitcher Tommy Mace allowed three runs on five hits in 5.0 innings with two strikeouts and two walks. Zach Jacobs struggled in relief, allowing four runs on three hits with three walks in just 0.2 innings.
The pitching star of the game was Ross Carver, who added 3.1 scoreless frames with two strikeouts.

This wasn’t a good day for pitching as Matt Wilkinson had a rough day at the office, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits in 4.0 innings.
Offensively, Jake Cozart went 2-for-4 with a walk while Juan Benjamin went 2-for-3 with a walk. Wuilfredo Antunez went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run.
Outfield prospect Alfonsin Rosario continues to impress, blasting his fifth home run of the season. In his first taste of High-A, he currently has a .965 OPS.

Jose Devers also tripled while Ralphy Velazquez, Jonah Advincula and Christian Knapczyk all doubled. Jaison Chourio walked twice.
Lynchburg Hillcats 2, Fayetteville Woodpeckers 10

It was a rough day for all sides as Lynchburg struggled to pitch and score runs. Garrett Howe led the way offensively, going 2-for-4 with a stolen base. Tommy Hawke singled and stole his 24th base and Jose Pirela and Jeffrey Mercedes both went 1-for-3 with a walk.
Starting pitcher Braylon Doughty struggled through 2.0 innings with flashes of brilliance, striking out five while allowing two runs on five hits.
The only major standout of the game was 2024 18th round draft pick Izaak Martinez, who was flat out brilliant in 3.1 one-hit shutout innings while striking out a whopping eight batters and walking zero. Martinez may be ready for High-A soon.
Nevermind, as I type this, I see he was just promoted to Lake County. Congratulations Izaak!
