I am not pleased with my favorite baseball team
The Guardians lost 7-4 to the Reds, lost the stupid Ohio Cup, and lost to Tito Francona for the fourth game in a row.
Jakob Junis is bad. I know his SIERA and FIP says he is all right for a middle reliever. Well, he’s not. He can’t afford a drop in K-rate and tick up in walk rate. They should move on ASAP.
This offense is so pathetic. Maybe they should have kept Chris Valaika. Maybe we were all dumb there. Because I do not understand why they could not really hit Wade Miley around.
Luis Ortiz came off the best performance of his young career and absolutely biffed it tonight. Will Benson continues to torture the Guardians and no one else and I am kinda glad about it, right now. Chris Antonetti kinda deserves that.
Stephen Vogt and Tito Francona are both player-friendly managers who maintain a positive attitude, but after a hot start in 2024, the Guardians have been a .500 team since. That might be all they are, I guess. Time will tell. But, they can’t afford to make dumb baserunning and fielding mistakes a win baseball games. They looked like a sloppy baseball team tonight. Oh, and how Daniel Schneemann didn’t get an at-bat in this game is beyond me.
Jose’s on-base streak reached 35. Yay. I am sure he is more ticked off than I am right now. Bo Naylor hit another home run. He is the future at catcher despite what every batting-average obsessed fan thinks. Lane Thomas had a good game with a single and two walks but ticked me off by striking out looking on a fastball at the top of the zone and then complaining about it to the umpire… WHEN HE HAD JUST SWUNG AND MISS AT A PITCH SIX INCHES ABOVE THAT.
Kyle Manzardo is killing them, right now. That has to change. Maybe tell Grant Fink to ask Valaika if he has any bright ideas.
Ok, I think that’s all I got.
Thank goodness tomorrow is another game that I can get my hopes up about only to have another unnecessary downer about. Go Guardians.
