Another team having a bad season

The Guardians and Orioles will play a four-game series beginning tonight at 6:40PM, as Cleveland attempts to erase memories of their recent ten-game losing streak.

Tom Hamilton was describing the Orioles as the most disappointing team in the American League. Maybe, Tom, but the Orioles were not in the ALCS last season.

The Guardians are 48-50 with a -43 run differential, 26th in MLB with an 85 team wRC+, 12th with 2.2 baserunning runs above average, 26th with a starter SIERA of 4.38, and 12th with a bullpen SIERA of 3.74.

The Orioles are 44-54 with a -99 run differential, 23rd in MLB with a 96 team wRC+, 18th with -2.5 baserunning runs above average, 25th with a starter SIERA of 4.32, and eighth with a 3.68 bullpen SIERA.

They both look like bad teams to me, Tom. But, certainly, the Guardians’ starting pitchers have been pitching waaaaay better of late than the Orioles’ starters. Anyway, better get to those Orioles’ starters because their bullpen isn’t bad.

Matchups:
Game One, Monday, 6:40PM EDT: Tomoyuki Sugano, RHP, 4.74 SIERA vs. Tanner Bibee, RHP, 4.11 SIERA
Game Two, Tuesday, 6:40PM EDT: Brandon Young, RHP 4.31 SIERA vs. Joey Cantillo, LHP 3.35 SIERA
Game Three, Wednesday, 6:40PM EDT: TBD (Probably Zach Eflin, RHP, 4.42 SIERA) vs. Slade Cecconi, RHP 3.98 SIERA
Game Four, Thursday, 1:10PM EDT: TBD (Probably Charlie Morton, RHP, 4.25 SIERA) vs. Logan Allen, LHP, 4.77 SIERA

The Guardians’ leading hitters are Jose Ramirez at 142 wRC+, Steven Kwan at 109 wRC+ (expected back today), and Kyle Manzardo at 100 wRC+.

The Orioles’ leading hitters are Ryan O’Hearn at 135 wRC+, Ramon Laureano 134 wRC+, Gunnar Henderson 124 wRC+, Jordan Westburg 118 wRC+ and Colton Cowser at 106 wRC+.

Don’t let O’Hearn and Henderson beat you and go after the Orioles’ starters as hard as you can, and hopefully the Guardians can secure a series win.
