A Jhonk Bonk and a Brito Blast for your Sunday.

The Cleveland Guardians faced off against the Milwaukee Brewers on a sunny day in Phoenix, AZ.

  • Jhonkensy Noel put the Guardians on the board in the top of the 7th with a home run to left center.
  • Juan Brito got his third home run of the spring on a line drive to center field in the top of the 8th. With his single in the top of the 3rd, he finished the day with two hits.
  • Of the starters, Daniel Schneemann singled, Will Brennan doubled, Bo Naylor singled and Tyler Freeman walked. Freeman also stole second base after his walk, but unfortunately that would be the only other offensive contribution from the lineup.
  • Ben Lively got the start, looking sharp until the 3rd and 4th inning. Going into the 3rd, Lively had only allowed a walk, but gave up a single to former Guardian prospect Andruw Monasterio which would lead to a 2-run homer off the bat of Sal Frelick. Jackson Chourio doubled, but Lively worked his way out of the 3rd without allowing more runs. In the bottom of the 4th, Lively got the first two batters out quickly before things got away from the starter. Lively allowed a walk and single before being pull for Josh Harlow. Lively finished his 3.2IP with 4H, 4R, 2BB, and 2Ks. His spring ERA is still at a commendable 3.55.
  • The Guardians pitching staff continued to struggle against the Brewers hitters. Harlow allowed another run before the 4th inning ended. Cade Smith allowed 2R, 3H, and walked a batter. Gaddis saw three and sent three down. Parker Mushinski took the remaining load, giving up one run on two hits and striking out two in two innings pitched.

The Guardians play the Cincinnati Reds tomorrow at 9:05PM. The game can be watched on CLEGtv or listened to on WTAM 1100.
