Columbus Clippers 7, Louisville Bats 10

Will Wilson continues to rake at Triple-A, but there weren’t many other bright spots for Columbus on Saturday. Wilson went 2-for-5 with his sixth home run, raising his season OPS to 1.128.

No one else had a multi-hit game, but Micah Pries blasted a grand slam and also walked.

Milan Tolentino walked twice and Christian Cairo went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.

Starting pitcher Vince Velasquez allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits in 4.1 innings with five strikeouts and three walks.

Bradley Hanner got tattooed for four runs on three hits (all home runs) in 0.1 innings. Parker Mushinski and Tanner Burns also gave up runs and even Mason Hickman’s 1.1 scoreless frames weren’t perfect because he allowed an inherited runner to score.

Akron RubberDucks 2, Erie SeaWolves 6

Box Score · RubberDucks fall to 9-5

Both teams walked and had the same amount of hits, but Erie strung all of theirs together in a six-run fifth inning.

Dayan Frias and C.J. Kayfus both went 1-for-3 with a walk and Guy Lipscomb blasted his first home run of the season.

Everything was going well with starting pitcher Rorik Maltrud until it wasn’t. Maltrud allowed all five runs in the fifth inning. His final line was five runs on three hits, four walks and a strikeout in 4.2 frames.

Piggyback partner Carter Spivey allowed a pair of inherited runners to score on a three-run home run, but otherwise pitched well, allowing one run on two hits with a strikeout and no walks in 2.1 innings. Shawn Rapp added a perfect ninth inning with a strikeout.

Lake County Captains 11, Fort Wayne TinCaps 3

Box Score · Captains improve to 8-6

Rake County got things started early with seven runs in the game’s first two innings and it never looked back.

Esteban Gonzalez blasted a home run in the first inning to lead off the game. He finished 3-for-5.

Alfonsin Rosario also teed off with a two-run shot in the second inning.

Other offensive standouts included Wuilfredo Antunez, who went 3-for-5, Maick Collado, who went 1-for-3 with a double and two walks, Jacob Cozart, who went 1-for-4 with a walk and Jaison Chourio, who went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk. After a slow start, Chourio is starting to heat up as of late.

It was a group effort on the pitching side of the equation. Cam Favors started the game with one scoreless inning, although he threw 35 pitches to do it.

Jack Jasiak followed with three scoreless two-hit frames to pick up the win. Adam Tulloch allowed two runs on four hits in 3.0 innings of long relief, although he struck out six and walked none.

Lynchburg Hillcats 13, Salem Red Sox 4

Box Score · Hillcats improve to 8-6

Lynchburg is red hot, winnings its third game in a row behind a blistering offensive performance that included 13 hits and nine walks.

No one homered, but Jose Pirela went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles, Garrett Howe went 3-for-5 with a double and a stolen base, Tommy Hawke went 1-for-5 with a walk and three stolen bases, Luis Merejo Went 2-for-3 with a double and two walks, Robert Lopez went 2-for-5 with a walk, Jeffrey Mercedes went 1-for-4 with a walk.

Jervis Alfaro allowed one run on four hits with two strikeouts and three walks in 4.0 innings.
