Updates on Owen Miller, Bobby Bradley, Daniel Johnson, and more. From Joe Noga:
Minor league games won’t get started until next week, but Cleveland Indians prospects and high-minors players have stayed sharp at the club’s alternate training site in Columbus under the watchful eye of Clippers manager Andy Tracy.
With a smattering of games against other alternate site squads under their belts, Cleveland’s crew has continued to put in work since arriving from the club’s spring training site in Goodyear, Ariz. They’ve been able to play games against teams from alternate sites in Indianapolis, Toledo, Louisville and others in front of about 1,000 fans at Huntington Park.
The camp has a different feel from last summer’s alternate training site in Eastlake, where players faced only their own teammates in live at-bats and did not get much of a competitive feel.
“It was challenging for big league players and four-A players to develop in an intrasquad atmosphere for three months,” Tracy said. “But here we’re playing other teams. We get to play the Pirates, the Reds and the Tigers and even the Royals came over. It’s really good to play a different colored uniform.”
